Interactive Mask

Featured In-Class Exploration

Exercise 2: Performing Mask - Students create a sound-reactive, interactive mask.

The project is about creating a mask that reacts and changes qualities depending on the user's mic input, so the volume of the mic. I added an explosion in the background and made my face represent an angry person. As the mic picked up louder sounds, the mask became more red and bigger.

The Magician's Choir

Final Project

This is a web experience and it was inspired by pixelated and retro-style video games. I wanted to copy that experience which was why I put a game boy in the background so it looks like people were playing a game. Though, it is actually an app where it would detect your face, and a mask will show up. The wider you open your mouth, the higher chords and frequencies the app will output. I chose this concept because I wanted to include music into this app while also making it kind of look like a video game.
