Distance

Distance is an interactive digital art installation that explores how physical and emotional distance shapes human perception and connection. Set within a realistic virtual gallery space, the project allows visitors to experience artworks through touch-based interactions, visual experiences, camera interactions, and digital responses. The virtual gallery is designed with white walls, white floors, classical-style frames, exhibition platforms, and museum-like architecture. Rather than feeling like a game environment, it aims to create the atmosphere of a real contemporary art exhibition, where space itself becomes part of the artwork. The core interaction focuses on the relationship between distance and perception. Through touch gestures and perspective changes, visitors can move closer to or farther away from artworks, discovering how different distances reveal different experiences. The project explores multiple forms of distance: physical distance between objects and spaces, emotional distance between people, the distance between present life and childhood memories, the relationship between past and future, the gap between traditional art and new technology, and the distance between individuals and their inner selves. By combining immersive environments, responsive interactions, AI-driven experiences, and spatial soundscapes, Distance invites visitors to reflect on how proximity changes understanding. The project suggests that distance is not only a measurement of space, but also a way people experience time, relationships, memories, and identity.
