A reflective exploration of Taoist perspectives on technology through meditation, parables, and discussion.
NEW LOCATION*
This afternoon gathering in Elysian Park offers a serene space for multisensorial reflection on technological development with an infusion of early eastern perspectives. Join artist Alice Yuan Zhang as she shares some of the influences and thinking behind her contribution to the exhibition Conscious Tether: Art and the Internet in Los Angeles.
The gathering begins with an option to drink a small dose of clay, an ancient cross-cultural practice called geophagy which helps cleanse the body of toxins while replenishing vital minerals. After a brief walking meditation, we will read several Taoist parables about human techne with respect to natural affordances. A salon-style discussion will follow, exploring Taoist principles in light of contemporary technological concerns.
Limited space. Meeting location will be sent to registered participants.
This program will now take place in Elysian Park, NOT LA State Historic Park as previously advertised.
